Bringing a puppy home is an exciting time. Don't let the stresses of house-breaking, socializing and training overshadow these special months. Enjoy this time and build a foundation for obedience early on.
Keep your dog from jumping on guests and chewing up the furniture. This program teaches your dog to respect your home and to stay calm around visitors.
Being outside should be a pleasant and controlled experience for both you and your dog. Keep your dog safe and put an end to embarrassing trips out in public.
From excessive barking to aggression, zero-in on what's causing specific behaviours. By understanding the causes, a custom program can be designed to correct the problems at its roots.
I had dogs most of my life but not for the past 6 years, after a bad experience with my last dog I waited for the opportunity to get another dog. After much research into what breed would be the best choice for us, I decided on a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. We wanted an active dog that wasn’t too big and a good family dog, this breed had all that we were looking for but they are not easy to find.
I looked into many training classes to enroll Penny in as well as puppy classes, I know how I wanted our dog to turn out and none of the classes seemed to have everything I was looking for.I called Sit Happens for a consultation and Marilyn came over and talked to us about the program. After a week of thinking about it and looking at other options I called back to sign up for their program.
Penny is a well trained and well behaved puppy, because of this she is able to come to work with me in a busy retail setting and is welcome everywhere we go. She has “puppy moments” but when she is required to behave she does and when we are at home playing she is a nut!
We wanted a dog that we can have off leash when we went hiking and snowshoeing.Duck Tollers love water and I was worried about coming across a fast moving river while hiking and her jumping in but with proper training we don’t have to worry about that.
When we go snowshoeing if you have ever gone done a steep hill with a dog on a leash it usually ends in disaster and I am confident with Penny off leash when we head up the mountains this winter for snowshoeing.
The extra bonus in their program is that kids can come to the class and do the handling with the dogs and this works great for Kevin who is twelve years old and shows Penny in dog shows as a Junior Handler.
We have been really happy with the program and the results, the team at Sit Happens is always there to help with any problems you have and provide excellent instruction.
I couldn’t be happier with the results and Penny she’s having fun as well.
